Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s mission of “Service to All Mankind” began in 1908 and has been at the forefront of positive change in American life, particularly in the African American community. The 2010-2014 administration will continue to fulfill this service imperative avowed by our founders through creative programs, awareness, advocacy, action and collaborative partnerships. Committed Leadership is essential to address issues related to social justice, human rights, health, poverty, economic security, environmental sustainability and to maintain a viable sisterhood of over 260,000 members. The theme for this administration is Global Leadership through Timeless Service.
The program initiatives meet the heightened demand for our youth to be exposed to innovative leadership skill development, enhanced academic preparation and civic engagement to achieve personal success.
Our Health and Global Poverty Initiatives will enrich the quality of life for citizens in the global community and promote empowerment and peace. With a focus on programs addressing problems concerning women and girls, our expanded community outreach will influence the betterment of all mankind.
Leadership development within our organization is critical to our survival in this second century of service. Mentoring and the establishment of developmental relationships are required for external service. Alpha Kappa Alpha’s potential is evidenced by excellent academic records, proven leadership and extensive involvement in the global community with strategic partnerships.
We will devote our talents and resources, inspired by a dedicated investment of human capital and a bold commitment to provide service to advance the basic principles of human rights. Awareness, Advocacy and Action are the primary components of these service initiatives. Destiny awaits us. We invite you to accept the mission and join us on the journey of Global Leadership through Timeless Service.
