Justice Quince
Peggy Quince, Florida Supreme Court Justice and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s International Membership Committee was recently selected by Gov. Charlie Crist for induction into the Women’s Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor is bestowed on accomplished citizens who are leaders in their fields and in community life.
Quince said she was honored to be included with previous honorees such as former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno and Rosemary Barkett, the first female to serve on the Florida Supreme Court.
She also hopes the recognition will inspire young African Americans to press ahead toward greater achievements. “This is a message to the young people who are coming behind us,” Quince said. “This can be and is an inspiration to them to let them know they can achieve if they want to.”
When she was appointed in 1998, she became the first African American female on the Florida Supreme Court.
Her career with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority began when she was initiated in Alpha Chapter in 1969. A member of Delta Kappa Omega Chapter in Tallahassee, she formerly served on the Risk Management and Anti-Hazing task force.
